A discarded grand piano constitutes the “nerve center“ of the expansive installation. There, threads and wires converge. They connect the sounding box’s strings with anchor points in the surrounding space. Along those fragile junctions, gravity seems to lose itself, the massive grand piano appears to be light – hovering in air.
When the threads and wires are played by the perfomers, the vibrations spread to the piano strings, and the fact that we are in inside a greater body of sound and space becomes audible.
The participants move within the network and over the strings, change space and sound references, are themselves moveable parts of the score.
