to breathe

A sound installation above Jakominiplatz
1999

A square. Chaotic, human structure, organised by traffic lines and junctions. All actors of this grand urban movement are connected at all times through one common activity – the activity of breathing. In this sound installation different breathing sounds are interwoven within compositions to put them upon Jakominiplatz as a carpet of sound like a deep covering fog. Only as loud as to connect one’s own breathing with the one which covers the square. To rest for a moment in the rhythm of one “grand” movement of breathtaking which will offer perception within soft irritation.
